Beauty tips for the long haul club – TV3.ie

31st Aug 16 | Beauty

Here’s our easy guide to stepping off a plane looking like an international jetsetter.

For some women flying is a total nightmare, while celebrities like Victoria Beckham breeze off their first class flight looking like they’ve stepped out of the beauty salon. Flying can be a massive stress on our skin but even if you’ll never be one of those women who removes all her make-up the moment she sits in her seat, switching up your in-flight beauty routine can make a huge difference and help you to arrive at your destination looking and feeling refreshed. With a little bit of prep you too can sashay through the airport looking as glam as the A-list!

Dye lashes before travelling and then just curl and leave them mascara free. Dot eye cream around the eyes to prevent lines setting during the flight.

Keep lips moisturised with a lip balm like Voya Balmelicious which is not only deeply hydrating, but the mix of vanilla and peppermint also tastes delicious. Throughout the flight keep your face hydrated with a face mist like Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. Just make sure it’s under 100ml!

Ditch the in-flight G&T for lots of water. Experts recommend drinking at least half a litre for every hour on board. Drinking plenty of water may mean regular trips to the loo, but all that moving about makes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) less likely. Just make sure to book an aisle seat!

Avoid salt-laden airline food, caffeine and alcohol and pack a light meal such as a chicken breast with lots of green salad, unsalted nuts and apples in a mini cold bag to keep it fresh.

Cleanse your face to get rid of the day’s grime and then apply facial oil such as REN’s Rose O12 Moisture Defence Oil. Complete the in-flight treatment by using a face mask over the top. Aromatherapy Associates Overnight Repair Mask rejuvenating rose and frankincense and potent botanical extracts will go to work while you get your beauty sleep, firming and smoothing skin.

If your skin requires something stronger than a moisturiser, a rehydrating serum like Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum could be your best carry on. It leaves skin glowing the next morning for a brighter, smoother complexion as soon as you awake.

After a restful snooze, put hair into a simple style and run some hair oil through it to make it smooth and shiny. Bumble and bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil comes in a bottle size perfect for getting through airport security and is made of travel-friendly plastic that won’t cause a major incident in your well packed case.

To avoid the ‘been through the ringer’ look, when the plane is coming in to land apply a tinted moisturiser like bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. Use a brow pencil to tidy up, and then use MAC’s Casual Colour, a great cheek and lip stain which is perfect for when you’re on the move, and you’re ready for the airport catwalk.
