Christie Brinkley showcased her yoga-toned supermodel physique at a party to kick off New York Fashion Week on Sept. 6.
Brinkley, 62, dazzled in a body-hugging red dress that accentuated her age-defying beauty.
Judging by her radiant skin and incredible physique, it’s hard to believe Christie has been in the fashion industry for more than 40 years.
Christie, a former Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl, said a mostly vegan diet and yoga workouts are her anti-aging beauty secrets, Celebrity Health Fitness reported.
“I made the decision [to become vegetarian at age 13] because I loved animals and didn’t want to be a part of the slaughter industry,” said Brinkley.
“I’ve been reaping the benefits of that karma ever since. I’ve avoided the constant antibiotic injections into animals and the growth hormones.”
Brinkley joins a growing number of celebrity vegetarians and vegans who are sold on the anti-aging health and weight loss benefits of a plant-based diet, including Paul McCartney and Jennifer Lopez, as TheImproper has reported.
The many benefits of vegan and vegetarian diets are no surprise to Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center.
“A diet of minimally processed foods close to nature — predominantly plants — is decisively associated with health promotion and disease prevention,” said Dr. Katz, author of Disease-Proof.
Obesity expert Dr. Neal Barnard agreed. “Studies suggest that free radicals [toxic molecules that form in the body] contribute to aging,” Barnard wrote in his book, the 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart.
“A vegan diet is full of antioxidants which help protect the body from damage by [age-causing] free radicals.”
Christie Brinkley said being grateful for all the blessings in your life is a key anti-aging beauty secret.
“When you feel good, you look good,” said the mom of three. “Being flexible and grateful contributes a lot to your happiness, which contributes to your health and to your looks.”
Brinkley is also a fan of sunscreen, laser skin treatments, and supplements. “I take vitamins like Biosil for my hair, skin and nails,” said Christie.
Christie also exfoliates and moisturizes her skin every day to slough off dead cells and promote cell turnover.
But Brinkley said the most important beauty secret is a positive attitude.
“Attitude plays a huge part in how you feel,” said Christie, who detailed her fitness and health secrets in Timeless Beauty. “Nothing looks better on you than happiness, and that’s in your own hands.”
